Foreign citizens who makes false statements about Uzbekistan, will face a five-year entry ban, according to a new draft law developed by a group of deputies from the Legislative Chamber on June 11.
The proposed legislation aims to delineate the grounds and procedures for determining the inadmissibility of foreign citizens and stateless persons in Uzbekistan.
Foreign citizens or stateless persons who commits to such actions will face several restrictions.
For those temporarily or permanently residing in Uzbekistan, a determination of it will result in the revocation of their legal right to live and stay in the country. These individuals will be required to leave Uzbekistan. The draft law outlines the procedures for deporting individuals deemed inadmissible. Such persons must voluntarily exit Uzbekistan within 10 days of receiving a notification from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding their accusations.
The proposed amendments aim to enhance national security by preventing the entry and presence of individuals whose actions or statements pose a threat to the country's sovereignty and social harmony. The law seeks to protect the integrity of the state and its people from external influences that may incite discord or undermine national values.
The draft law is currently under review and will need to go through the legislative process before being enacted.
