Annually, between $300 mn and $1 bn flows out of Uzbekistan due to online gambling, as revealed by Nodirjan Djurayev, Head of the Department of Regulation of the sphere of turnover of crypto assets at the National Agency of Perspective Projects (NAPP).
During a press conference on the presidential decree 'On Measures to Improve Regulation of Organisation and Conduct of Lotteries and Risk-Based Games,' Djuraev emphasized that gambling activities in Uzbekistan are primarily conducted online. The decree specifically excludes the establishment of physical casinos and other offline gambling venues.
The National Agency of Perspective Projects (NAPP) estimates that taxing bookmakers and lotteries could generate around $6 mn annually for the Uzbekistan budget. Starting next year, these entities will be permitted to operate, subject to a 4% turnover tax rate until 2030.
Earlier, it was reported that Kazakhstan's Majilis approved legislation addressing gambling addiction. The bill stipulates that individuals must be at least 25 years old to gamble. It also bans advertising for betting shops and casinos on building facades and allows individuals to self-ban from gambling for up to 10 years through eGov. Moreover, those with outstanding loans or alimony payments will be prohibited from placing bets.
