OxFounders Global, in collaboration with Westminster International University (WIUT), is set to host a full-day startup summit in Tashkent on April 17th, from 10 am to 5 pm. This event marks the first-ever OxFounders initiative in the Central Asia region and serves as a unique convergence of the vibrant startup ecosystems of Oxford and Tashkent.
A Platform for Innovation
The summit aims to showcase the entrepreneurial talent thriving within the Uzbek ecosystem. It will feature a series of workshops and panel discussions led by industry leaders, including unicorn founders and key stakeholders such as EY, Deloitte, IT PARK, EBRD, and the World Bank.
One of the highlights of the event is a pitch competition where early-stage startups from across the region will vie for recognition. The jury panel, composed of esteemed figures in the entrepreneurship landscape, will be presided over by Uzum COO Roman Lavrentev, Managing Partner of AloqaVentures Davron Parmonov, Director of Swift Launch Stephen Lin, and Central Asia Director of Domino Ventures Derin Keskin.
Origins of OxFounders
OxFounders originated from the vision of students at Oxford University who shared a passion for startups. The initiative has since evolved into a global platform, embarking on a World Tour to explore innovative markets and showcase talented founders. The summit in Tashkent represents a pivotal moment in this journey, facilitating connections between local entrepreneurs and opportunities both locally and in Oxford.
The summit promises to bring together unicorn founders, investors, accelerators, government officials, and media coverage, providing a unique opportunity for networking and collaboration. By fostering dialogue and engagement, OxFounders Global aims to catalyze the growth and success of startups in Uzbekistan and beyond.
