Uzbekistan has forged new ties with Belize and Liechtenstein, further bolstering its global engagement strategy. The establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Belize was formalized through the signing of a Joint Communiqué in New York City, as reported by Dunyo news agency.
The agreement, signed on March 6, saw the participation of Ulugbek Lapasov, the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the United Nations, and Carlos Fuller, the Permanent Representative of Belize to the UN.
Both parties expressed a keen interest in enhancing collaboration within the framework of international organizations, particularly the United Nations and its specialized agencies.
A key aspect of the agreement is the commitment to intensify interaction to identify and pursue areas of mutual interest and benefit. With the signing of the Joint Communiqué, Belize becomes the 147th state to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan, further expanding the Central Asian nation's network of international partnerships.
In a separate diplomatic initiative, Uzbekistan also formalized diplomatic relations with the Principality of Liechtenstein through the signing of a Joint Communiqué on March 5, 2024, also in New York. This marked the 146th country with which Uzbekistan has established diplomatic ties.
