Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan were officially established on June 6, 1992. The foundation of cooperation, however, dates back to 1991, showcasing the enduring nature of the friendship between the two countries. Pakistan opened its Embassy in Tajikistan in 1993, with activities commencing in early 1994, solidifying the diplomatic ties between the two nations.
A crucial element in the development of bilateral economic cooperation is the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation. In the first six months of 2021, Tajikistan and Pakistan experienced a gradual recovery in trade, with the total trade volume reaching $18.9mn. This marked a notable increase of 6.3% compared to the same period in 2020, signaling positive momentum in economic relations.
