In the aftermath of a tragic incident on January 4, a cafe in Uralsk, Kazakhstan, witnessed a fire followed by a devastating gas explosion that led to the collapse of the building. Among the injured were two citizens of Uzbekistan, and their condition, as assessed by medical professionals, is deemed very serious.
An explosion occurred at the RIZYQ cafe, causing the collapse of the two-story building over a 110-square-meter area. The fire, covering 25 square meters, has been successfully extinguished. The scene was being managed by 39 firefighters, 8 rescuers, 28 police officers, and 18 ambulance teams.
Yerlan Toksanov, the head of the health department in the West Kazakhstan region, provided insights into the medical evaluation conducted on the victims. One individual was directed for outpatient treatment, while another with minor burns to the face and neck was admitted to the trauma department.
"Four severely burned people are in intensive care. One of the victims has a bilateral pneumothorax, as well as a fracture of the right femur,"
revealed Toksanov. The four individuals in intensive care also suffered closed head injuries and concussions.
"The three victims suffered burns ranging from 15% to 52%. Their condition is considered very serious,"
Toksanov added. Notably, two out of the five hospitalized individuals are citizens of Uzbekistan. The victims, aged between 23 and 30, consist of three men and two women, with both foreign nationals in intensive care.
Yernur Utegenov, head of the Emergency Situations Department in the West Kazakhstan region, suggested that the explosion likely originated from a gas-air mixture, causing the collapse of the cafe's wall, ceiling, and roof. This tragic incident resulted in three fatalities and six injuries, with the injured individuals being transported to the city's multidisciplinary hospital.
