Uzbekistan has witnessed a remarkable surge in the import of passenger cars from China over the course of 11M 2023, marking a sixfold increase, as per the data reported by Tazabek, citing information from the General Administration of Customs of China.
In 11M 2023, the volume of exported passenger cars from China to Uzbekistan skyrocketed to 83,800 units, reaching $1.5bn, a figure six times higher than previous records. The average prices for the exported vehicles remained steady at $18,000.
Earlier in 9M 2023 Uzbekistan has substantially augmented its imports from China, recording a 5.8 times increase, totaling 65,300 vehicles. The supply of cars in monetary terms surged 5.9 times to $1.2bn, and the average car price saw a 2.4% rise to $18,600.
Moreover, in 8M 2023, Uzbekistan has significantly bolstered its imports of electric vehicles (EVs), reporting an influx of almost 1,500 EVs at a cost of $46.4mn. This marks an increase of 1,000 units compared to the same period last year. Notably, nearly 90% of these electric cars were imported from China, with the UAE, Germany, and Hong Kong following in the rankings.
Additionally, in July, there was a resurgence in the demand for cars, with a 40% increase in sales of electric vehicles. The continuous growth in the car trade underscores the evolving dynamics of the automotive market between China and Uzbekistan.
