Due to severe weather conditions caused by the earlier impact of Hurricane "Ian," the entire territory of Cuba has been completely blacked out. The national electric system of Cuba has encountered an unprecedented situation, with electricity generation at zero (no power supply in the country), as stated in the official telegram channel of the state-operated company "Electric Union."
The widespread outage is attributed to the adverse weather conditions that resulted in disruptions to the distribution network.
Cuban power engineers promised a gradual restoration of electricity supply by August 29 morning.
It's worth noting that Cuba was hit by Category 3 Hurricane "Ian" yesterday. The eastern provinces of the republic, including Pinar del Rio, Artemisa, Mayabeque, and the capital region, bore the brunt of the storm. The hurricane winds, accompanied by heavy rainfall, led to building and house damage, toppled trees, downed power lines, and caused coastal flooding.
