A video depicting a group of Uzbek citizens encountering a challenging situation after arriving in Germany for work has been widely shared on social media. Reports indicate that approximately 300 young individuals found themselves stranded at train stations, spending multiple nights without a clear direction or destination.
Statement by blogger Nikita Makarenko on his Telegram channel says that a group of individuals was sent to work in Germany by the Turon company. These individuals were required to pay a service fee ranging from $700 to $1,000. The majority of them have chosen to remain in Germany as they are obligated to work.
Following preliminary investigations announced by the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment, it has been discovered that Turon World Cooperation LLC, a private employment agency, collaborated with several known organisations to launch the Work and Travel program between May and June 2023. However, there have been challenges in providing employment opportunities to the students who arrived in Germany.
The Ministry has initiated further studies to address this situation and intends to involve law enforcement agencies for a legal assessment. Additional information regarding the outcome will be provided in due course.
Furthermore, it was emphasised that engaging citizens in overseas work requires a licence. A list of private employment agencies holding such licences was cited, indicating that Turon World Corporation private employment agency was issued a licence on November 25, 2020. However, the validity period of this licence was temporarily suspended by the Foreign Labor Migration Agency on June 10, 2022.
Ministry's statement informs that 310 students arrived in Germany in 2023 and secured employment through the Work and Travel program, in collaboration with the Foreign Labor Migration Agency and the German NoVo Agency and did not face any issues.
