At the invitation of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, will pay a state visit to the country on June 5-6, the President's press service reports.
During his visit, key events will be held in Samarkand, focusing on the development of Uzbekistan-Qatar relations. Talks will cover political dialogues, cultural exchange, and investment projects in various sectors. The discussions will also address international and regional issues.
It is noted that the visit of the emir of Qatar to Uzbekistan will be the first in the more than 25-year history of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were first established in 1992.
The visit is expected to conclude with the signing of important intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents.
On May 7, Qatar Embassy opened its doors in Tashkent, where the Uzbekistan stated that Qatar is an important, reliable, and promising partner in the Arab world.
