December 7-9. Badriddin Abidov, the head of the negotiating team working with the World Trade Organization has held a number of bilateral negotiations with WTO member states within the framework of Uzbekistan's membership in the organization. He participated in the Foreign Trade Strategies Forum organized by the UNCTAD/WTO International Trade Center (ITC).
Abidov met the Deputy General Director of the WTO, J-M. Pogam, and the Head of the Accession Department of the Organization's Secretariat, M. Oshikawa touched upon the preparations for organizing the 6th meeting of the working group on WTO membership of Uzbekistan. Separate negotiations were held with the WTO member states on the release of republican goods and services to their markets.
The representatives of the countries and the WTO Secretariat stated that Uzbekistan will provide all the necessary new documents to the member countries of the Organization for the organization of the 6th meeting of the working group, including written answers to the questions of the interested countries, a plan of measures aimed at harmonizing the national legislation with the WTO rules, sanitary and presented updated documents on phytosanitary measures, technical barriers to trade, customs valuation, intellectual property, licensing of import of goods and other issues.
At the end of the negotiations, an agreement was reached on the further acceleration of Uzbekistan's WTO membership process, including the holding of the 6th meeting of the working group in early 2023 in accordance with the organization's schedule of events.
