US Congress to discuss report on Karakalpakstan incident

Uzbek Ambassador to the USA, Javlon Vahobov, held a video conference with members of the US Congress to provide information about the situation in Karakalpakstan, as well as Uzbekistan's efforts to ensure peace, stability and sustainable development in the region, "Dunyo" reports.   
Steve Chabot from Ohio, the co-chairman of the subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific and Central Asia in the US Congress's foreign affairs committee, talked about the real reasons for the events in Karakalpakstan and the government's plan to stabilize the situation in the region. He thanked for the detailed information about the measures taken to stabilize the situation in the region. The United States welcomes Uzbekistan's efforts to conduct a comprehensive, transparent and credible investigation.
Chabot, as a member of the "Uzbekistan Caucus" in the US Congress, expressed his support. "Uzbekistan is a time-tested friend and ally of the USA. I believe that the country will overcome this challenge and reforms will be continued," he added.
