The National Guard of Uzbekistan denied using any toxic agent or lethal weapon during the unrest in Karakalpakstan, the press service of the NGU reports.
The stun grenades used to disperse the rioting crowd in Nukus on July 1-2, 2022 were not lethal, but rather used to disorient the crowd.
These special devices were demonstrated to the media at a briefing held on July 6 with detailed information about their effects and chemical composition.
The filler of stun grenades consists of pyrotechnics, which do not contain toxic substances. The chemical elements used have an effect of flash and sound, causing short-term deafness and loss of balance of a person.
"Therefore, the information about the toxicity of special tools spread on the Internet is not true," the statement says.
