President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan has expressed deep concern upon receiving the news of an attempt on the life of former President of the United States, Donald Trump. The incident occurred while Trump was speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania.
President Mirziyoyev strongly condemned this act of violence and wished Trump a swift recovery. He emphasized his worries about the implications of such an attempt on the former president’s life during his pre-election campaign.
“The head of our state strongly condemns this act of violence and wishes Donald Trump a speedy recovery,” the press secretary of the president shared.
The attempt on Trump’s life took place on July 13, during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump was shot in the ear while delivering his speech. The shooter, positioned on a nearby rooftop, fired multiple shots, prompting Trump to clutch his right ear and drop to the ground. Secret Service agents quickly surrounded the former president to protect him as more shots were fired.
Agents confirmed that the shooter was neutralized. Trump, bleeding from the ear, was helped to his feet and signaled to the crowd by raising his fist and mouthing the word "fight," which was met with loud cheers of "USA!" from the audience. He was then escorted to his vehicle by Secret Service agents.
The shooting resulted in the death of one attendee and critically injured two others. The FBI confirmed that all the victims were male. The incident has sparked serious concerns regarding security at the rally, prompting lawmakers to call for an investigation into the Secret Service's handling of the event. The shooting occurred just before Trump was set to accept the 2024 presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention.
