Uzbekistan’s U-20 national football team qualified for the 2027 AFC U-20 Asian Cup after defeating Syria 3-0 in their final Group B qualifying match. The team, led by Jamoliddin Rahmatullayev, finished first in the group with nine points.
Diyor Ermanov opened the scoring in the 10th minute, while Kuvonchbek Abrayev doubled Uzbekistan’s lead in the 81st minute. Davron Tulaganov converted a penalty in the fourth minute of added time to complete the 3-0 victory.
Uzbekistan finished the qualifying campaign with nine points, while India placed second with six points and also qualified for the Asian Cup. Syria finished with three points, while Bangladesh ended the tournament without a point.
The 2027 AFC U-20 Asian Cup will be held in China from March 24 to April 10. The four semifinalists will qualify for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Uzbekistan has already qualified automatically for the World Cup as a co-host alongside Azerbaijan.
Earlier Daryo reported that Uzbekistan captain Eldor Shomurodov won FIFA’s fan vote for the best goal of the 2026 World Cup group stage, with his finish against DR Congo ranking first among 12 shortlisted goals.
