Uzbekistan’s U17 national football team secured a 3-0 victory over India in its second Group D match of the AFC U17 Asian Cup, earning qualification for both the quarterfinals of the continental tournament and the 2026 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.
The match was played on May 10 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. With the win, Uzbekistan advanced from the group stage as one of the top two teams in Group D and secured a place at the U17 World Cup, scheduled to take place in Qatar in November 2026.
Uzbekistan opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when Laziz Abduraimov converted a penalty after Indian goalkeeper Rajrup Sarkar committed a foul in the box.
The second goal came in the 60th minute, when India defender Danny Singh turned the ball into his own net following an Uzbekistan corner kick.
Uzbekistan added a third goal in the 78th minute through Akhrorbek Ravshanbekov.
Group D consists of three teams—Uzbekistan, Australia, and India—following the withdrawal of North Korea from the tournament.
Uzbekistan began the group stage with a 1-1 draw against Australia, while India lost 4-0 to Australia. Uzbekistan’s victory over India also confirmed Australia’s place in the quarterfinals.
Uzbekistan and Australia are scheduled to meet on May 13 to determine the winner of Group D.
Uzbekistan entered the tournament as the defending AFC U17 Asian Cup champion. The team won the previous edition in 2025 after defeating Saudi Arabia 2-0 in the final under head coach Islombek Ismoilov.
At the most recent FIFA U17 World Cup, Uzbekistan was eliminated in the round of 16 after a 3-2 loss to Italy.
