Uzbekistan's national football team will play South Korea in an international friendly on October 6 as part of preparations for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
The Football Association of Uzbekistan announced that the match will take place in South Korea during the next FIFA international window. The fixture will be one of several friendly matches scheduled for the national team.
The team, coached by Fabio Cannavaro, is continuing preparations following its participation in the FIFA World Cup.
Attention will now shift to the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia from January 7 to February 5.
Uzbekistan has been drawn into Group B, where it will face Bahrain, North Korea, and Jordan in the group stage as it aims to qualify for the knockout rounds.
Uzbekistan made its FIFA World Cup debut at the 2026 tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, exiting after three group-stage defeats.
Despite the results, FIFA described the campaign as a milestone, highlighting Abbosbek Fayzullayev's first-ever World Cup goal for Uzbekistan, Eldor Shomurodov's group-stage Goal of the Tournament award, and the team's disciplined playing style under Fabio Cannavaro.
FIFA also noted that younger players gained valuable experience, providing a foundation for future international competitions.
