Uzbekistan has more than 474,900 active enterprises and organizations as of January 1, 2026, according to the National Statistics Committee, with the trade sector accounting for the largest share of businesses nationwide.
The committee reports that 153,370 enterprises operate in wholesale and retail trade, making it the most dominant sector in the country’s business landscape. Industry follows with 59,520 enterprises, while construction accounts for 30,343 businesses.
The agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector includes 34,881 enterprises, reflecting continued activity in primary production. Accommodation and food services comprise 30,374 businesses, while transport and storage total 17,245 enterprises, highlighting steady demand across logistics and service industries.
In the digital economy, 11,901 enterprises operate in the information and communication sector, while healthcare and social services account for 14,283 organizations. The remaining 122,982 enterprises are distributed across other economic activities.
Earlier data showed that the number of active enterprises in Uzbekistan had fallen to 465,900 in November, 2025, marking the lowest level in five years, with small businesses continuing to dominate the economy.
Furthermore, business activity has been supported by expanding external trade. Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover reached $72.8bn in January–November 2025, up $13.02bn, or 21.8% year-on-year, underscoring growing demand across key sectors, particularly trade and industry.
