President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressed the development of environmental culture and the involvement of citizens, non-governmental organizations, and businesses in solving environmental problems during a meeting with ECO Network Founder Evgeny Mukhamedzhanov in Almaty on May 31. Tokayev praised the ECO Network project, which was joined by hundreds of companies and educational institutions in Kazakhstan, contributing to the decarbonization of the economy, Akorda reports.
Tokayev highlighted initiatives such as Eco Hub, Green Office, and Green School, which focus on promoting environmental awareness and attitudes and encouraging waste sorting and recycling.
The President noted that Mukhamedzhanov's initiatives align with the ideology of the Taza (Clean) Kazakhstan national environmental campaign.
President Tokayev also met with Bagdat Teltayev, director of the Road Research and Production Center, to discuss road infrastructure prospects in Almaty and Kazakhstan. Teltayev discussed challenges related to the development of megacities and proposed solutions, including the use of asphalt concrete with polymer additives in road construction.
Tokayev emphasized the importance of scientific research and advanced technologies to improve road infrastructure quality and safety. He directed the government and relevant ministries to take appropriate actions based on the discussions and proposals.
