In the first quarter of 2024, Uzbekistan became the fourth largest supplier of cigarettes to Kyrgyzstan, exporting 19.75 mn cigarettes worth $463,800, as it was disclosed by National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Kazakhstan led the market, exporting 476.6 mn cigarettes worth $10.9 mn. Russia followed with 60.5 mn cigarettes valued at $1.1 mn, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) exported 26 mn cigarettes worth $483,500. Overall, Kyrgyzstan imported more than 593 mn cigarettes, spending $13.6 mn.
Despite this success, Uzbekistan's total export of beverages and tobacco products declined. By early May 2024, the total export value was $25 mn, an 11% decrease compared to the same period in 2023.
