Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan plan Intergovernmental Commission meeting
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan welcomed Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov of Azerbaijan on May 1, as part of the Tashkent Investment Forum, presidential press service reported.
Minister Jabbarov conveyed warm regards from President Ilhom Aliyev of Azerbaijan to President Mirziyoyev, highlighting the cordial relations between the two countries. Discussions focused on enhancing the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan and expanding practical cooperation in line with existing agreements.
Recognizing the importance of broadening the project portfolio, including through the Joint Investment Company, both sides emphasized the need to explore new avenues for collaboration. To this end, plans are underway to convene the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the second forum of the regions of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan in the near future. These platforms aim to streamline the economic agenda and foster closer ties between the two nations.
The meeting also delved into regional cooperation, with particular emphasis on the outcomes of the tripartite meeting of energy ministers from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan. The productive discussions highlighted the potential for enhanced cooperation in the energy sector, underscoring the importance of regional partnerships in driving economic growth and development.
