Uzbekistan and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) unveil a comprehensive program comprising 12 projects, collectively valued at $2.58 bn, Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade (MIIT) reported. These projects encompass critical areas such as green energy, water supply, highway reconstruction, and infrastructure development.
On April 30, Uzbekistan's Minister of MIIT, Laziz Kudratov, held a significant meeting with Konstantin Limitovsky, Vice President of the AIIB, signaling a collaborative effort to bolster the country's infrastructure and economic development.
During the meeting, discussions revolved around the progress and future prospects of several pivotal projects spanning diverse sectors such as energy, education, healthcare, and water supply. Both parties evaluated the implementation status of ongoing projects and explored opportunities for joint initiatives outlined in the cooperation program spanning from 2024 to 2026.
Of particular significance was the deliberation surrounding the preparations for the 9th Annual Meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors scheduled to take place in September this year in Samarkand.
"The Annual Meeting provides a valuable platform for AIIB's top leadership and key stakeholders to convene and deliberate on the Bank's objectives and plans, fostering dialogue with the broader public and business sector,"
stated Zacharias Ziegelhöfer, Senior Investment Specialist – Water & Urban at AIIB in his interview for Daryo.
Currently, Uzbekistan is actively engaged in the implementation of 13 projects, valued at $2.57 bn, in collaboration with the AIIB. These projects span a spectrum of sectors including state budget support, water supply, energy, and support for small businesses and private entrepreneurship.
