Kyrgyzstan plans to implement a new electronic system to manage interdepartmental interactions within railway transportation. This initiative is designed to streamline the management and oversight of railway freight services across the country.
Developed by Ulut Soft, a software development firm, the system aims to simplify current processes in railway freight transportation. The Ministry of Economy of Kyrgyzstan supports this initiative, highlighting its role in enhancing operational efficiencies. The pilot phase of this system is scheduled to begin on May 10, 2024.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, total cargo transportation from January to February 2024 reached 7.8 mn tons. This represents an increase of 400,000 tons, or 4.9%, compared to the same period in 2023.
- Automobile transport: The bulk of the cargo, amounting to 6.3 mn tons, was transported by road, with over 80% managed by individual entrepreneurs.
- Railway transport: Rail services managed 1.4 mn tons of the total freight volume.
- Pipeline transport: This mode accounted for 117,200 tons.
- Air transport: Air services transported a minimal amount, totalling 600 tons.
The new electronic system is expected to enhance the efficiency of railway transportation by integrating various departmental operations.
