Intelligence Online reports that Uzbekistan has formally requested information from France regarding the potential acquisition of 24 fourth-generation Dassault Rafale multi-role fighter jets. The matter was reportedly discussed during the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to the Republic of Uzbekistan on November 2.
Despite the expressed interest, analysts are skeptical about Uzbekistan's immediate ability to secure the Rafale jets. The manufacturer, Dassault Aviation, is currently facing a heavy workload due to existing orders from countries such as Qatar, Croatia, and Indonesia. Additionally, negotiations with Saudi Arabia are underway, further complicating the production schedule.
In light of these constraints, an alternative solution could involve France proposing Dassault Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Tashkent as a viable option.
The Dassault Rafale is a French twin-engine, canard delta wing, multi-role fighter aircraft designed and built by Dassault Aviation. Equipped with a wide range of weapons, the Rafale is intended to perform air supremacy, interdiction, aerial reconnaissance, ground support, in-depth strike, anti-ship strike, and nuclear deterrence missions.
