When the Chinese leader Xi Jinping entered the BRICS summit meeting room, security guards stopped his assistant, who was running late behind him, thinking he was a stranger.
However, once he continued moving forward, the guards closed the door and apprehended the Chinese leader's assistant.
Accorfing to RIA news the unexpected incident was captured on video during the arrival of the bloc's leaders at the event. The footage shows Xi Jinping making a brief step back before calmly proceeding forward again.
The BRICS summit is taking place in Johannesburg from August 22-24, with the heads of state from China, India, Brazil, and South Africa in attendance. Russia is represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced his participation in the summit via video conference.
Today, BRICS comprises five countries, but 23 other nations have expressed their interest in joining the economic bloc, including Argentina, Iran, Algeria, Tunisia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
Earlier, Daryo reported that instead of attending in person, Putin will participate via video call, marking a unique turn of events for the BRICS summit.
