The Uzbekistan National boxing team won 9 medals (5 gold, 2 silver and bronze) coming first in the tournament which went down in history as the best result of the team at the World Championships.
The World Boxing Championship, which took place on May 1 ended almost two weeks later in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The national team of Uzbekistan participated in the competition with one participant in all 13 weight categories.
Kazakhstan (4 gold, 1 silver) were the runners-up and Russia (2 gold, 4 bronze) took third place.
Hasanboy Dostmatov, who won the championship in the 51 kg weight category, was recognized as the best boxer in the competition. The delegation of Uzbekistan was awarded the title of the best national team.
