Samarkand was chosen as the cultural capital of the CIS, and Tashkent as the youth capital for 2024, at a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS which took place in Samarkand, Sputnik Uzbekistan reports.
“This is clear evidence of the active participation of Uzbekistan in our interaction within the CIS,” CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev noted.
Minsk, the capital of Belarus, was declared the sports centre of the CIS in 2023, and the Armenian city Gyumri will receive the same title next year.
