Shavkat Mirziyoyev convened a meeting dedicated to the coal and uranium production projects in Uzbekistan.
In 2022, Uzbekistan extracted 5 million 300 thousand tons of coal and there are still about 2 billion tons of coal reserves in the country. The head of state effectively used this potential and set the task of consistently ramping up coal production.
The state leader insisted to complete the modernization project of "Shargunkomir" and increase the production to 900,000 tons per year.
The President pointed out that there is an opportunity to further expand the production of high-quality coal by developing the "Shargun" and "Boysun" mines. He emphasized the need to attract investors to these mines and implement new projects.
On July 14, 2022, a presidential decision was made to increase the volume of uranium mining and processing at the Navoiyuran state company and double the unit’s output hitting 7.1 thousand tons by 2030.
