News has spread on social media platforms that from January 1, 2023, the sale and purchase of crypto-currency would be prohibited in Uzbekistan.
According to the National Agency for Perspective Projects, this information is not true.
“On December 29, 2022, the agency's official website cited that starting from January 1, 2023, ordinary people and legal entities of Uzbekistan may conduct operations on the purchase, sale and (or) exchange of crypto-currency only via national service providers in accordance with legislation.
The news also specially stated that the implementation of any operations with crypto-currency on foreign platforms that have not received an appropriate license is a violation of the law and may ensue legal persecution, the message says.
The agency called on to avoid the spread of false information and to double-check the information about the circulation of crypto-assets through official information resources.
