Six prisoners who escaped from the training center of the private military company "Wagner" are being searched by the paramilitaries in the Lugansk region. "CHTD" Telegram channel reports about this.
It was reported that the armed prisoners escaped from the "Wagner" educational center in the Krasnodon district of the Luhansk region. In addition to Russians, among them, there are also citizens of Uzbekistan, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan.
The mercenaries escaped when they were supposed to go to the combat zone. Prigozhin, reportedly the founder of the PMC, said that he had "all the necessary information".
Earlier, the official of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Alexei Gromov, said that Russia is making up for its losses at the expense of labour migrants from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
It was also reported that the number of prisoners in Russian colonies decreased to a record level in 2 months, which may be due to the fact that they are being recruited for the war.
According to the National Resistance Center under the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia is sending tens of thousands of soldiers hired by the private military company "Wagner" in prisons to its special operation in Ukraine. So far, they have recruited a total of 23,000 prisoners.
John Kirby, the White House National Security Council's strategic communications coordinator, said that as many as 90 percent of Wagner fighters participating in the war in Ukraine could be prisoners. According to Kirby, the total number of "Wagners" in Ukraine may reach 50,000 people, of which about 40,000 are prisoners. In recent weeks, about a thousand "Wagner" fighters have been killed in Ukraine, 90 percent of whom were former prisoners.
What kind of group is the "Wagner" group?
Yevgeny Prigozhin, the owner of company, has been under US sanctions since 2016 and EU sanctions since 2020. In Washington, he was accused of controlling the Internet Research Agency (a troll factory) and Wagner.
He has repeatedly denied involvement with Wagner and has been on trial for such allegations, but in September 2022 he revealed that he was the founder of Wagner. He founded the organization in 2014, when, according to him, the "genocide against the Russian people in Donbass" began.
