President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with United States Trade Representative Jamieson Greer on June 25 to discuss the further development of bilateral relations, with a particular focus on trade and economic cooperation.
At the beginning of the meeting, Greer conveyed greetings and best wishes from U.S. President Donald Trump to President Mirziyoyev.
The discussions focused on current priorities in the Uzbekistan–U.S. strategic partnership, including measures to strengthen trade, investment, and business cooperation between the two countries.
Both sides reviewed recent developments in bilateral economic relations and noted the continued growth of trade and investment ties. The meeting also addressed the outcomes of a roundtable with American businesses held during the fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum, where representatives of U.S. companies discussed investment opportunities and potential projects in Uzbekistan.
A separate focus was placed on Uzbekistan's ongoing efforts to join the World Trade Organization (WTO). The parties discussed cooperation within the accession process and the continuation of U.S. support for Uzbekistan's WTO membership negotiations.
The meeting also examined the role of the U.S.–Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council as a platform for expanding commercial cooperation. Both sides emphasized the importance of using the council's mechanisms to identify new investment opportunities and advance joint business initiatives.
