Kazakhstan and the United States reviewed prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation during talks between Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev and Sergio Gor, Special Envoy of the U.S. President for South and Central Asian Affairs and U.S. Ambassador to India.
The meeting focused on a broad range of issues related to the Kazakhstan-U.S. partnership, including economic and investment cooperation, innovation, artificial intelligence, education, and scientific collaboration. The parties also discussed opportunities for deeper engagement in transport, logistics, and the critical minerals sector.
According to Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions addressed ongoing efforts to strengthen trade and economic ties between the two countries and explore new areas of cooperation in strategically important industries.
During the talks, Minister Kosherbayev outlined Kazakhstan's ongoing constitutional reforms and economic modernization initiatives. He noted that Kazakhstan views the United States as an important partner in attracting foreign investment, supporting technological development, and expanding economic cooperation.
The parties also reviewed progress on agreements reached during the meeting between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House in November 2025. Discussions focused on the implementation of previously agreed initiatives and opportunities for advancing bilateral cooperation.
Critical minerals were among the key topics on the agenda. Kosherbayev expressed appreciation for the participation of the United States in the upcoming C5+1 Critical Minerals Dialogue, which aims to strengthen cooperation between the United States and Central Asian countries in the development of critical mineral resources and related supply chains.
The two sides also discussed preparations for a planned roundtable involving business delegations from the United States and Central Asia. The event is expected to provide a platform for companies and investors to explore commercial opportunities and expand regional economic cooperation.
In addition to economic issues, the meeting covered collaboration in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, as well as partnerships in education and scientific research.
Sergio Gor reaffirmed Washington's interest in maintaining dialogue with Kazakhstan and continuing cooperation on bilateral and regional issues. The discussions also touched on broader regional developments and areas of mutual interest.
Following the meeting, both sides reiterated their intention to continue developing the enhanced strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the United States through expanded cooperation in trade, investment, technology, and regional initiatives.
