Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Shokhrukh Gulamov conducted a working visit to Pakistan as part of an Uzbek delegation to discuss prospects for expanding cooperation in industry, investment, and logistics, as per to the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan (MIIT).
On the first day of the visit, Gulamov held a meeting in a narrow circle with Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Industrial Affairs. An expanded session was also organized at the Ministry of Industry and Production of Pakistan, attended by representatives of approximately ten relevant ministries and departments.
During the visit, the delegation met with heads of industry associations in the leather sector, as well as executives of leading companies in the pharmaceutical and industrial sectors, to explore potential areas of collaboration.
Gulamov also met with Shoaib Ahmad Khan, Director General of the National Logistics Company (NLC) of Pakistan, to discuss the development of international cargo transportation and opportunities for expanding cooperation on the Pakistan–China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan transport route via the Khunjerob Pass.
On the second day, the delegation visited the port of Karachi to assess the potential use of port infrastructure for expanding transit routes and exporting Uzbek products to international markets.
At the conclusion of the visit, both parties agreed to continue consultations and develop joint initiatives in practical terms to enhance bilateral cooperation in industry, logistics, and trade.
Since early 2025, trade between Uzbekistan and Pakistan has risen by 23%, with cargo transportation increasing by 50%, while trading houses have been established in Karachi and Lahore and the number of direct flights connecting the two countries has expanded.
