President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with Feridun Sinirlioglu, Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, who arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit on May 21.
The meeting focused on the further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OSCE across economic, environmental, political, and humanitarian areas.
According to the discussion, both sides noted the ongoing dialogue and expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and the organization, including collaboration with specialized OSCE institutions. It was also noted that the leadership of the organization regularly visits Uzbekistan, while missions from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights participate in monitoring electoral processes in the country.
The parties reviewed the results of joint projects implemented in recent years. Areas highlighted included cooperation in countering transnational threats, judicial and legal reform, gender equality initiatives, protection of human rights, and support for media development.
Additional discussions focused on expanding cooperation in several priority areas. These included combating cybercrime, advancing digitalization and artificial intelligence initiatives, professional training, youth support programs, and environmental and climate-related initiatives connected to the green agenda.
During the meeting, the sides agreed to prepare a new roadmap for cooperation and to organize a series of joint events both in Uzbekistan and at OSCE platforms.
The talks also included an exchange of views on current regional and international developments.
