Kazakhstan has introduced a new system aimed at expediting investment projects, known as the Fast Track or Green Corridor. This initiative is designed to simplify the necessary procedures for investors, covering everything from project registration to the commissioning of facilities.
The Fast Track system was first announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Nurlan Bazarbayev in March. The initiative seeks to improve the efficiency of managing infrastructure issues, securing necessary licenses, and navigating regulatory processes. The objective is to provide a more streamlined experience for investors, reducing the time and complexity typically involved in project development.
The National Investment Platform, which is currently in its pilot phase, has been established to oversee the progress of investment projects across Kazakhstan’s regions and industries. In addition, Kazakh Invest, the national company, will set up a one-stop shop to facilitate investments exceeding $50mn from both domestic and foreign investors. This system is expected to apply international standards in industrial construction, potentially reducing project implementation time by 1.5 to 2 times and lowering costs by 20-30% during the design and construction stages.
The early impact of the Green Corridor system is already being observed. On August 14, the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Aktobe Region hosted a meeting with local authorities, the prosecutor’s office and business leaders to discuss investment projects within this framework. The regional prosecutor’s office has developed specific mechanisms to protect investors’ rights and support their projects.
During this meeting, 27 business representatives were awarded certificates for their participation in the Green Corridor project, covering 31 major projects planned for the region. The participants included both local entrepreneurs and international investors from countries such as China, Russia, Türkiye, and the United States, indicating broad interest in Kazakhstan’s investment environment.
