Kazakhstan declared its support for the United States' strategy to address the Middle East conflict, as conveyed in a statement from the Kazakh Foreign Ministry. The Kazakh Foreign Ministry outlined the key components of the US peace initiative, which include a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the release of hostages, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip with international support.
The Ministry expressed optimism that these measures will cease the ongoing violence and reduce civilian casualties. Furthermore, it is hoped that these actions will create the necessary conditions for achieving enduring peace in the region.
Kazakhstan reiterated its consistent stance that the resolution of the long-standing conflict lies in the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the principle of "two states for two peoples."
The United States appealed to the United Nations Security Council to endorse President Joe Biden's three-phase plan designed to end the nearly eight-month conflict in Gaza. This initiative aims to cease hostilities, secure the release of hostages, and deliver significant aid to the devastated area.
U.S. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield announced that the United States has distributed a draft resolution to the other 14 members of the Security Council. The resolution aims to resolve the conflict that began with Hamas' unexpected attack on southern Israel on October 7, which resulted in approximately 1,200 fatalities, primarily among Israeli civilians.
Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield noted that many leaders and governments, including those in the region, have shown support for the plan. She urged the Security Council to join in calling for the swift and unconditional implementation of the initiative.
