Uzbekistan witnessed a notable upsurge in passenger car production, with a more than 2-fold increase in 2M24 compared to the same period in the previous year, the State Statistics Agency reports. The production volume ascended to 53,370 vehicles.
UzAuto Motors, a prominent manufacturer, led the increase with the production of various models, including 16,067 Cobalt cars (a 2.1-fold y/y increase), 7,361 Gentra cars (up 42.3%), 11,752 Damas cars (up 24.5%), 6,541 Tracker cars (a 6-fold increase), and 5,357 Onix cars (up 47.8%).
The production line also saw 2,004 Chery vehicles (2.4 times growth), 4,112 KIA vehicles (3.2 times growth), as well as 38 Exeed and 135 Haval cars rolling out during January and February.
Additionally, 3,448 specialized passenger cars were manufactured in the same period, marking an 8.2% decline.
Uzbekistan produced 15,657 passenger cars this January, registering a substantial 2.92-fold increase y/y. The Center for Economic Research and Reform (CERR) provided annual data, indicating that Uzbekistan sold 1.69 mn vehicles in 2023, achieving an 18% y/y sales growth.
