    Uzbekistan and U.S. discuss enhanced ties and economic cooperation

    The first deputy chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Sodyq Safoev, convened with a delegation led by Mike Rogers, the chairman of the Armed Forces Committee of the United States House of Representatives, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis reported. The meeting held on March 27, underscored the shared commitment of Uzbekistan and the United States to foster robust inter-parliamentary relations and bolster cooperation across various spheres.

    A wide array of topics pivotal to the bilateral relationship between Uzbekistan and the United States were deliberated upon during the meeting. Of paramount importance were discussions regarding the enhancement of trade, economic ties, and labor relations between the two nations. Both parties underscored their dedication to advancing cooperation in these domains, recognizing the mutual benefits that would ensue from such collaboration.

    Moreover, delegates engaged in a constructive dialogue concerning the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan aimed at fortifying human rights, the rule of law, and transparency within state administration. Emphasis was placed on the continuous development and consolidation of civil society institutions, as well as the protection of private property rights and foreign investments. Uzbek officials provided detailed insights into the country's economic liberalization efforts, showcasing its commitment to fostering an investor-friendly environment.

    A highlight of the discussions was the acknowledgment of the instrumental role played by the "Caucus on Uzbekistan," a friendship group within the United States House of Representatives. Recognizing its effectiveness in bolstering parliamentary ties between the two nations, both delegations underscored the importance of such platforms in deepening mutual understanding and collaboration.

    Economic cooperation emerged as a focal point of the deliberations, with particular emphasis on the contributions made by the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (AUCC). Comprising 38 leading companies, the AUCC has played a pivotal role in strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership through its initiatives aimed at facilitating trade and investment between the two countries. Delegates exchanged views on further expanding investment cooperation and fostering closer ties between business communities.

    Furthermore, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to advancing labor relations, ensuring decent working conditions, and promoting the adoption of international labor standards. Consistent consultations on pertinent labor issues were agreed upon as essential for fostering a conducive environment for both domestic and foreign workers.

    In concluding remarks, both delegations expressed their unwavering readiness to broaden and deepen the mutually beneficial cooperation across all spheres.

    Furthermore, AUCC has actively supported cultural exchanges with Uzbekistan, exemplified by hosting student prodigies from the Tashkent Conservatory in the United States.
