Tajikistan's President, Emomali Rahmon, has issued a call to the nation, urging citizens to adopt frugality and prudence in spending, as reported by ASIA-Plus on March 9. Emphasizing the importance of financial responsibility, Rahmon stressed the need for individuals to prioritize their families and ensure adequate food supplies for at least a two-year period.
"We should be thankful, always think about our families and children, and ensure food supply for at least two years," remarked President Rahmon, highlighting the imperative of preparedness in the face of global challenges.
Rahmon drew attention to the myriad difficulties confronting humanity in recent years, including conflicts, water scarcity, droughts, poverty, and hunger. Citing United Nations data, he noted that numerous countries worldwide are currently grappling with food insecurity, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
This isn't the first instance of Rahmon advocating for food reserves lasting two years among Tajikistan's populace. Earlier in the year, he issued a similar directive in response to concerns regarding climate change and the worsening socio-economic climate globally.
"Each family in the country should have enough food supplies for up to two years," reiterated President Rahmon during his address commemorating the "Sada" holiday at the close of January, reaffirming the government's stance on the importance of household preparedness.
