The U.S. increased the validity period of new tourist and business visas for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic from five to ten years, as announced by the U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan. Moreover, the reciprocal fee of $20 for B1, B2, and B1/B2 visa applications for passport holders of the Kyrgyz Republic was abolished.
The U.S. underscored the significance of facilitating travel and fostering deeper connections between the American and Kyrgyz people through these changes, which are expected to benefit numerous Kyrgyz travellers.
The new ten-year validity period applies to B1, B2, and B1/B2 visas issued starting March 4 2024. This change is not retroactive for visas issued before this date, and the alterations in validity and reciprocity are only applicable to the above-mentioned visa categories. Further enhancements to consular services are anticipated in the upcoming summer.
Earlier, it was reported that the Transactional Record Analysis Centre disclosed in 2023 that the U.S. saw an influx of 17,000 unauthorized immigrants from Uzbekistan. In addition, there are currently 40,000 individuals from Central Asia, comprising 7,000 from Kyrgyzstan, 3,000 from Tajikistan, 2,700 from Kazakhstan, and 2,000 from Turkmenistan, who are in the process of awaiting judicial verdicts on their requests for asylum.
