Uzbekistan's Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, led a delegation in talks with Arif Amiri, CEO of the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC), and Mohammad Alblooshi, CEO of DIFC Innovation Hub, government portal of Uzbekistan reported.
The DIFC stands as a key global financial hub in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region, boasting nearly two decades of expertise in facilitating trade and investment flows within this expansive economic zone.
The primary focus of the meeting was to deliberate on strategic measures pertaining to the establishment of the "Enterprise Uzbekistan" international digital technology center. This center is envisioned as a specialized zone offering favorable conditions for the development of digital technology products within Uzbekistan's IT Park.
The Enterprise Uzbekistan Center aims to provide a conducive environment for technology firms, featuring a regulatory sandbox for innovative projects, robust protections for intellectual property and privacy, as well as comprehensive government and banking services. Additionally, it will extend crucial support in labor, customs, and tax law matters, along with facilitating commercial and civil dispute resolutions.
Representatives from DIFC expressed their high regard for the progress made in this endeavor and commended Uzbekistan's ambition to emerge as a prominent IT outsourcing hub. As the meeting concluded, both parties reached an agreement to further bolster cooperation between IT Park and DIFC.
Plans are underway to foster knowledge exchange initiatives and extend invitations to DIFC member companies to establish representative offices in Uzbekistan, thereby enabling them to engage in global business activities through the republic.
Led by Minister Sherzod Shermatov, the Uzbek delegation also held productive discussions with Ayman Fadl, Vice President of Development at Tafaseel BPO, on February 13. Among the focal points of the dialogue was the assessment of the viability of establishing operations in Uzbekistan, capitalizing on the favorable business environment and supportive initiatives extended by the Uzbek government, particularly through IT Park.
