Turkmenistan has fully fulfilled its contractual obligations to supply gas to Russia in 2023, Russian Ambassador Ivan Volynkin said at a briefing in Ashgabat.
"As for the volume of trade turnover, it exceeded $1.6bn in 2022....Due to the full fulfilment of contractual obligations to supply Turkmen natural gas to Russia, we expect an improvement in the results of foreign economic activity at the end of 2023," TASS news agency quoted the diplomat as saying.
Experts told Daryo that Russia is buying Turkmen gas under a five-year contract signed in 2019. Gazprom has pledged to buy about 5bn cubic metres of gas a year.
About 200 companies with Russian capital are registered in the local market. KAMAZ, Tatneft and Vozrozhdenie are among the leading players.
