The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan announced that the JSC "Uzenergoengineering" and the Chinese Institute of Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute (EPPEI) will establish a joint venture and an institute in Uzbekistan. The new entity will develop energy plans, train personnel, provide consultancy, and conduct engineering research in the country. This collaboration aims to enhance engineering capabilities and cultivate a skilled workforce in the electric power industry and emerging technologies.
As Uzbekistan prioritizes the expansion of its renewable energy capacity, there arises an imperative for engineering organizations with global proficiency and the training of qualified professionals. Acknowledging this need, JSC "Uzenergoengineering" capitalized on the recent highly successful state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the People's Republic of China in January 2024, forging partnerships with Chinese entities.
These endeavours supplement the previously addressed energy projects in Uzbekistan, specifically. China Shuifa Singyes Energy Holdings Limited has expressed its commitment to invest $714mn in the establishment of five solar power plants within the Uzbek capital.
Joint venture: advancing planning, engineering, and consulting
JSC "Uzenergoengineering" and the China Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute (EPPEI) have concurred on the establishment of a joint venture specializing in planning, engineering, and consulting within the electric power industry. Key activities of this venture encompass:
- Development of comprehensive short-term and long-term plans for Uzbekistan's electric power industry, incorporating contemporary considerations such as the integration of renewable energy capacities.
- Conducting engineering studies encompassing pre-design technical and economic evaluations, project concept formulation, basic and detailed design, scrutiny and adaptation of project documentation, among other areas.
- Provision of consultations in the electric power industry, encompassing technical guidance on the design, construction, and operation of power facilities, project management consultations, and engineering counsel on the application of new technologies.
Training and retraining initiatives targeting personnel through the development and implementation of programs, seminars, training sessions, and other events, aimed at enhancing the proficiency of specialists, including international experts.
International educational institution
JSC "Uzenergoengineering" and Energy China International have reached a collaborative agreement to establish an international educational institution in Uzbekistan, focusing on electric power and emerging technologies. The preliminary investment for this institution amounts to $30mn. The educational institution aspires to cultivate internationally competent specialists equipped to tackle intricate challenges and introduce innovative technologies into Uzbekistan's electric power industry. To achieve this, the institution plans to attract distinguished international faculty, furnish itself with state-of-the-art technologies, and secure international accreditation.
