Alan Hamson’s Appointment
Alan Hamson, who has been serving as the Ambassador of Canada to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, has now been appointed as the Ambassador to Uzbekistan. Hamson brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the region to his new role.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
Minister Saidov expressed his pleasure at meeting Hamson and receiving copies of his credentials. He acknowledged Hamson’s rich experience and knowledge of the region. Saidov also stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan is ready to support Hamson’s efforts to contribute to the realization of the huge unused potential in Uzbekistan-Canada bilateral relations.
The bilateral relations between Canada and Uzbekistan have been growing over the years. In 2018, Canada’s exports to Uzbekistan were $6.3mn, mainly consisting of chemical products, nuclear reactor machinery and parts, as well as electric machinery. The appointment of Hamson as the new ambassador is expected to further strengthen these relations.
