A high-level delegation from Tashkent, led by acting khokim (mayor) Shavkat Umurzakov, engaged in crucial discussions with representatives of Guangdong Zomman Energy Technology in Shenzhen, China. The meeting not only facilitated an exchange of ideas but also paved the way for a significant cooperation agreement between Toshkent Invest and Guangdong Zomman Energy Technology, UzA reported on January 27.
During the talks, the Tashkent delegation had the opportunity to delve into the Chinese experience of augmenting electricity production through renewable sources. The discussions were complemented by a comprehensive presentation outlining Zomman Energy's successful projects spanning over ten countries.
The collaboration took a concrete form with the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between Toshkent Invest and Guangdong Zomman Energy Technology. The agreement focuses on the establishment of a solar energy generation project with an impressive capacity of 100 MW. This ambitious venture will be realized through the attraction of investments, all under the operational management of the investor.
Earlier Daryo reported China Energy Engineering Group (CEEC) has achieved a noteworthy milestone in Uzbekistan with the successful grid connection of the first 400MW phase of its 1GW solar project. This initiative, aligned with the Belt and Road initiative, addresses the unique challenges posed by Uzbekistan's climate, characterized by frequent sandstorms and a dry environment. The utilization of Arctech's specialized trackers ensures the robustness of the solar panels, enabling them to withstand the region's harsh weather conditions.
Upon its entirety, the 1GW solar project is anticipated to yield an impressive 2.4 bn kWh annually. This initiative not only demonstrates commitment to sustainable energy but also holds the potential to significantly impact the local economy, creating around 1,600 jobs. This contribution to employment, coupled with the growth of the renewable energy sector, marks a positive stride towards a greener and more economically vibrant future for Uzbekistan.
