    Since Shavkat Mirziyoyev assumed office as the President of Uzbekistan, his diplomatic efforts have taken him to numerous countries across the globe. An analysis conducted by "Daryo," based on data released by the President's press service, provides a detailed account of the frequency and nature of these visits during the period spanning 2017 to 2023.

    Russia: pinnacle of diplomatic engagements

    Russia emerged as the most frequented destination for President Mirziyoyev during the specified period. The president visited Russia on 12 occasions, showcasing the depth and significance of the bilateral relationship between Uzbekistan and its northern neighbour.

    Regional partnerships: Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan

    The Central Asian region played a pivotal role in President Mirziyoyev's diplomatic engagements, with notable visits to Kazakhstan (9 times), Turkmenistan (8 times), and Kyrgyzstan (7 times). These visits underscore the importance of fostering strong ties with neighbouring nations to enhance regional stability and cooperation.

    Strategic alliances: China, Turkey, and Tajikistan

    President Mirziyoyev's diplomatic itinerary also included five visits each to China, Turkey, and Tajikistan. These nations, characterized by their strategic significance, witnessed high-level engagements that reflect the commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

    Multifaceted relations: USA, Germany, UAE, and Azerbaijan

    The president made three visits each to the United States, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, and Azerbaijan. These nations, spanning different continents, highlight Uzbekistan's efforts to diversify its international partnerships and engage with key global players.

    France, South Korea, India, Hungary, and Saudi Arabia witnessed dual visits from President Mirziyoyev, signifying the nuanced approach towards cultivating relationships with nations across various regions. A single visit each was made to Italy, Japan, Singapore, Qatar, Iran, Egypt, Pakistan, and Belarus. 

    In 2024, President Mirziyoyev commenced his international engagements with a state visit to China from January 23-25. This initial visit of the year sets the tone for further diplomatic initiatives and underscores the enduring commitment to strengthening ties with key partners.
