The head of the Turkish diplomatic mission, Umut Adjar, has unveiled the ambitious objective of achieving a $1bn trade turnover in economic cooperation between Turkey and Tajikistan. This announcement came during the summary of the visit of the Turkish Foreign Minister to Tajikistan on January 10.
Highlighting the progress made, Ambassador Adjar indicated that half of the collaborative plans between the two nations have already been successfully implemented. He further emphasized sectors within the Tajik economy that present viable opportunities for Turkish businessmen to invest. Notably, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has played a pivotal role by executing over 100 projects valued at $30mn in Tajikistan.
The discussions during the meeting between the Turkish Foreign Minister and Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Mukhriddin focused on critical issues such as the Tajik-Kyrgyz border and security matters concerning the Tajik-Afghan border. Both parties engaged in constructive dialogues concerning collaboration in these areas, with Turkey expressing its commitment to supporting Tajikistan in enhancing security along the Tajik-Afghan border.
Addressing educational aspects, Ambassador Adjar clarified that the allocation of quotas for Tajik citizens studying at Turkish universities is contingent upon the number of applicants. Admissions are facilitated following the successful completion of all required exams, and education in Turkish universities is conducted in both Turkish and English languages.
