In an interview with Egemen Qazaqstan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the paramount significance of Russia as the most important partner and ally of Kazakhstan. Over the past 30 years, the foundations of their interstate relations have been robustly strengthened, marked by the signing of more than 300 contracts and agreements between the two nations.
Addressing the potential impact of the upcoming presidential elections in Russia in 2024, Tokayev noted that elections are a global phenomenon occurring in various nations, including the USA, Great Britain, India, Azerbaijan, and more. He affirmed that the Kazakhstani government would carefully monitor these elections.
He highlighted the significant trade volume between the two countries, stating that in the 10th month of 2023, the trade volume amounted to $21.4 bn. Tokayev also acknowledged the global influence of the current Russian President, Vladimir Putin, describing him as a figure who "influences the global climate both in words and in action."
