A 60-year-old deputy Boris Nadezhdin, originally from Tashkent, has officially thrown his hat into the ring for the upcoming presidential elections in Russia, he revealed this news on his Telegram channel. On December 23, Nadezhdin joined the "Civic Initiative" party and formally submitted his candidacy application, marking a significant step in his political career.
Expressing both optimism and caution in his first interview as a presidential candidate, Nadezhdin stated, "I hope to stay alive until the end of these elections, not to be arrested and not to be declared a foreign agent."
Born in Tashkent in 1963, Nadezhdin and his family relocated to Russia in 1969.
The upcoming presidential election in Russia is scheduled to take place from March 15 to 17, 2024, spanning three days. Notably, the incumbent president, Vladimir Putin, has also announced his intention to run for office in this election.
For the electoral process, a substantial budget allocation has been made, with ₽33.2bn (equivalent to $367.7mn) being disbursed from the federal budget to the Central Election Commission of Russia.
Recently a representative of the mobilized families spoke at the Party Congress: “We will not remain silent, we will achieve the return of the men, we support you, and thank you again very much for not passing by and being able to raise this topic. It is considered taboo in our society. Anything you say against the Special military operation is immediately punishable by law. You are a very brave person. Thank you very much.”
Boris Nadezhdin replied to her statement: "I will continue to do everything to ensure that those mobilized return to their families."
