Turkmen judoka Hekim Agamammedov won a bronze medal in the 66kg category at the "Tokyo Grand Slam-2023" tournament in the Japanese capital.
Local TV channel "Turkmenistan Sport" reports that the two-day tournament attracted 506 athletes from more than 80 countries who competed for 14 sets of medals in 7 men's and 7 women's weight categories.
Agamammedov, 24, had a string of victories over athletes from the United States, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Brazil and Mongolia on his way to the title.
Agamammedov is honing his skills under the tutelage of senior national team coach Gakhryman Amandurdyev and Japanese specialist Kazuhiko Tokuno, head coach of the Turkmenistan national team.
